Grown for the leaves
An excellent foliage plant. The flowers in spring are insignificant, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise; what you grow this for is the marbled arrow shaped foliage, which appears in autumn and stands through the winter when there is little else to look at.

And then the berries
For late summer it produces an abundance of brilliant orange red berries on bare stems. Planted in a moist place it increases rapidly, so give it somewhere it can spread without arguing with its neighbours. The berries are not edible.
