This is a delightful group, quite exceptional in habit and freeness of flowering. An absolute must in every garden, they are particularly suitable for groups in the rockery or small containers. Winter flowering crocus are more dainty than their large flowering Dutch cousins. My mother always had a bowl of these on the kitchen windowsill, much admired for their beauty and loved by the cat.
Crocus tommasinianus are loved by many gardeners as one of their favourite early flowering crocuses, blooming from January and February. The start for me is always the snowdrops and early crocus, with their deep intense glossy colours.
