About Rock Garden and Border Bulbs

A different perspective
When making your choices think about how you view your garden in the spring; it will be from a different perspective than during the summer months. The smaller varieties are best seen along walkways and niches near to the house, whilst the taller ones can be admired even if they are some distance away. One of the joys of spring is watching as pockets of miniature bulbs start to come into flower. They are equally effective used in borders or containers, to accent other plants or to make a spectacular show when grouped together.

Letting them spread
The flowers look striking on their own or can be used in combination to simulate the look of a woodland or meadow. Many of these bulbs will multiply freely; there are few more spectacular sights than masses of naturalised bulbs, informal sweeps that look like Mother Nature did the planting herself. Many of the more inexpensive bulbs can be planted in large drifts to complement their more expensive hybrid cousins. Always try to add a few genus that you have not grown before; you will be well rewarded by the added interest they bring to the garden.
