Far daintier than their tall cousins
These dainty gladioli commence flowering in early June and last for a long period, throwing up secondary spikes. At about 30cm they are far daintier than the tall summer varieties, and want a sunny well drained pocket of the border or the rockery rather than a bed of their own.

The ones we grow
The nanus varieties are the heart of the group; Nymph is pure white splashed deep carmine pink, Mirella deep crimson red with darker veining, and Prince Claus white with solid cerise markings on the lower petals, a regular in Chris’s lists of dependable summer colour. Communis byzantinus is the hardy species, and in kind gardens it will settle and spread.
