Well known as the lovely Madonna lily, and the one lily in the catalogue that belongs to the autumn rather than the spring. Unlike most lilies, candidum wants planting in late summer, a point the letters make most years. Plant early and shallow.
Shallow, sunny, and left alone
This variety requires shallow planting, approximately 5cm of soil on top of the bulb, which is far less than any other lily you will grow. Select an open position in the garden.
