Small cupped narcissi have a cup less than a third the length of the petals, which gives a neater and more refined flower than the trumpets and the large cups. Division 3.

The small cupped narcissi are defined entirely by proportion, and the result is a flatter, more open flower. The short cup often carries the strongest colour of the whole flower, as it does in Barrett Browning, where a white perianth surrounds a deep orange eye.
They tend to stand between 35 and 50cm, Falmouth Bay being the tallest we grow and Lancaster among the earliest.
They are one of the larger flowering divisions suitable for giving a focal point in a border or shrubbery, and they take well to mass formal planting. The neater flower also holds up particularly well when cut.
February through to May depending on the variety, with Lancaster among the first and Barrett Browning among the last.
