Mid-Season Crocus

The mid-season crocus bridge the gap between the earliest species and the first daffodils, flowering in February and March. Larger in flower than the species crocus, they are ideal for naturalising in grass and borders, increasing steadily year on year. They are useful for holding colour at the front of a border, in the rock garden or in containers where they can be seen at close quarters.

Bridging February and March

Mid-Season Crocus

There is a gap between the last of the winter crocus and the first of the daffodils, and this is the group that fills it. They open through February and hold on into March.

Where to Put Them

Plant them in generous drifts at the front of a border, in the rock garden or in containers where they can be seen at close quarters. If left undisturbed they increase readily from self-sown seed as well as the natural increase of the bulbs.

The bulbs supplied by Bloms cost the most, gave the most flowers (26), were of top quality and had the potential of doubling themselves next year. The trials indicated that you get what you pay for.
