Where Should You Palnt Zantedeschia?
The best time to plant the Zantedeschia is from March onward, as the chances of extreme winter weather are much lower. This improves the chances of optimal growth right from the beginning of the growing season. Although these plants originate from the marshes of South Africa, they thrive in gardens that are consistently kept wet, but are well-drained. This is because the rhizomes need good drainage, as they are prone to rotting, and they should take root well in rich, well-draining soil.
If frost is imminent after you plant the rhizomes, be sure to take steps to protect your newly planted rhizomes, especially if they have sprouted. You can cover the sprout with frost cloth, or relocate your container to a more sheltered area. This will prevent the shoots from suffering from extreme frost damage, and it will have no impact on the growth of the shoots.
