    About Anemone blanda

    The Grecian windflower

Very useful for planting in the rockery or in drifts in the border, and for underplanting deciduous trees and shrubs. Flowering March to April at about 10cm, it produces a carpet of blossom and naturalises rapidly. It is useful to soak the corms overnight before planting.

    Worth having in numbers

Anemone blanda is one of the genus always worth including. Many of the more inexpensive bulbs can be planted in large drifts to complement their more expensive hybrid cousins, and few do it better. Blue Mist, White Splendour and Pink Star will each carpet sun or light shade, or take our own mixture blended in blue, pink and white.

The bulbs supplied by Bloms cost the most, gave the most flowers (26), were of top quality and had the potential of doubling themselves next year. The trials indicated that you get what you pay for.
