Half the height, none of the canes. That is the case for the medium flowered gladioli: naturally sturdy stems that stand up without staking, which the traditional exhibition sorts never could. They suit a mixed border where the tall ones look like visitors, and they do well in pots. Striking colour combinations, many with contrasting throats. In from March to early June, 10cm deep, sun. Lift in autumn once the foliage has gone over.
