Dwarf Iris
Dwarf iris, also known as miniature iris, are ideal for planting in a rock garden and are among the earliest of the spring bulbs. To achieve best effects, plant in a semi shaded area where their colour is more pronounced, and the flowering period lengthened. Plant 5cm (2″) deep and 5cm (2″) apart in well drained soil. Flowers February to March.Give them a sunny aspect and allow the bulbs to ripen while they are dormant, and the clumps will build steadily over the years.
Go BackOne of the Joys of Spring

One of the joys of the garden is to invest in some of the lesser known bulbs that we may not have grown for several years, and we would highly recommend the dwarf iris. When we first started working they were virtually unaffordable, but they are now an indulgence that we can all enjoy.
These charming iris are among the earliest of the spring bulbs, flowering from the end of February, and provide some of the richest colours. Observing their progress on your walks through the garden, they are one of the joys of spring.

Dwarf iris are suited to a semi shaded position; in full sun they will go over more quickly. Plant 5cm (2") deep with similar spacing in well-drained soil.
They are ideal for the rock garden, wooded areas, containers, along pathways, or dotted anywhere they can be admired. Their scent is vital in attracting pollinators.
