Description

Galanthus nivalis is the common snowdrop, and common is no insult; no bulb is more welcome. Nodding white flowers appear in February, 15cm tall, happiest in light shade under trees and shrubs. Plant 5cm deep as soon as the bulbs arrive, in natural drifts rather than rows, and leave them to build into the carpets that mark the turn of every gardening year.
